Hello! Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season! :-) We finally got some snow where I live, so I’m thrilled.

BUTCHER VANITY 10,000,000 VIEWS!

The song I wrote with Vane Lily and JamieP, BUTCHER VANITY, has reached an unbelievable 10 million views on YouTube! I seriously can’t believe it. Thank you all so much. I hope you’ll continue to look forward to our releases as FLAVOR FOLEY into 2025.

NEXT!!! Sound of the Future: Chapter 16

My webcomic is back from hiatus! I've also migrated the whole thing off of Webtoons onto its own self-hosted site (with RSS feed). Chapter 16 is a real chunky one, and I think it’s pretty good, so check it out if you have time!

For a bit of newsletter-exclusive creator commentary: Most of the chapter focuses around the Mikus, but this chapter also marks the first major appearance of “Zasshi”, a Luka journalist. I find her design really fun and easy to draw, so she showed up in my sketchbook a lot. I might have extended her appearance in this chapter a little bit just because I like drawing her so much.

“don’t look”: Yi Xi Version

This video randomly got recommended to me on my YouTube home page:

I was immediately like… Wow this song is fantastic. Banger. Iconic. I want 500000 covers of it. So I covered it with Yi Xi, because she is red and I like her.

… which resulted in the producer of the song reaching out to me (because he happened to be One Of My Oomfs, SAWTOWNE) asking if I wanted to also put this Yi Xi version up on streaming alongside the main Apollo Kepler version.

When I saw the message I thought I might explode into 5000 pieces. But I did not do that, so you can now stream an official SAWTOWNE Yi Xi release on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. And you should do so. And also cover this song 500000 times

i DO what i WANT: vflower cover

I made the music video for Circus’ cover of “i DO what i WANT” with flower! This was a reward for one of Circus’ subathons from 2022. If you’re thinking “gee that’s a long time”, some of the fault is also mine, because I’ve had the final art and cover for like half a year and kept pushing it back on my priority list. Sorry. It’s here now, though!

Speaking of the art, I’m really happy we got to commission EMU-san! This may not be a widely known fact, but flower is basically my favorite Vocaloid. I’ve liked her since her initial V3 release- so while I’m appreciative of her becoming a beacon of Gender, it was always her cool, femme, tall, goth look that I loved. So I’ve been a huge fan of EMU-san’s for a while- the flower-chan they draw is basically my ideal, and they are 5000% my favorite flower artist ever, and I’m sooooooo thrilled we were able to commission them.

FLAVOR FOLEY: “snowflake”

For Christmas, FLAVOR FOLEY released a short arrange of my old song “snowflake”!

(We wanted to put the full thing on YouTube shorts but YouTube wasn’t agreeing with us, so the full version is only on the Twitter…. lol. By the way give the Twitter a FLAVOR FOLEY FOLLOW please)

We used Hanakuma Chifuyu, since she represents the “winter” season among the Tokyo 6 girls! She’s also just a sweetie… even if she sings super off pitch…. which is why we had to employ the iconic Suzie to tune her! We’re very grateful she did it on such short notice 🙇‍♂️ And of course, she made her sound amazing!!

Would you believe me if I told you I took a 2-month sabbatical this year? In hindsight I don’t even remember when that was anymore.
